Thailand is on its way to legalizing casinos in 2024

In Thailand, the process of legalizing casinos is moving forward, significantly advancing towards a more open approach to integrated entertainment complexes with casinos. On October 26, 2023, the House of Representatives of Thailand proposed four initiatives to explore the possibility of legalizing such establishments as a means to combat illegal gambling and stimulate the economy. The proposals received bipartisan support, leading to the approval of creating a special commission tasked with presenting plans within 90 days.

The first casino in Thailand is likely to be located in Bangkok, with additional proposals for creating casino resorts in other key regions of the country, including Pattaya, Chiang Rai or Chiang Mai, as well as on the islands of Phuket, Krabi, or in Phang Nga. These complexes are planned to attract private investments and create thousands of jobs, making a significant contribution to the country's economic development.

The Thai government recognizes the enormous potential of legalizing casinos not only in combating illegal gambling but also in attracting foreign investments, increasing tourist flow, and creating new jobs. This reflects the global trend of expanding the market for legal gambling and enhances the interest of major international casino operators in Thailand as a potential investment location.
